Troop Calendar 2010
(Troop meets every Monday.
Meetings will be cancelled whenever schools are closed due to inclement
weather. Meetings will be held on Monday holidays unless they
are specifically cancelled by the Troop Committee.)
- June 14 - Troop Meeting, summer camp orientation for
Scouts and families, knots / lashings
- June 21 - Youth Protection Training, Boards of Review
- June 28 - Troop Meeting, Boxwell planning, rules for
Water Carnival, review knots / lashings, poisonous plants

Honor for Jordan Gray (tentative)
- July 11-17 - Troop 521 at Boxwell Reservation for summer
camp
- July 18-24 - NYLT Course at Boxwell Reservation
- July 19 - Troop Meeting, Boards of Review, Grimes
25-miler sign-up due
- July 22 - August 4 - Middle Tennessee Contingent at the
National Scouting Jamboree
- July 26 - Troop Meeting, Guest Speaker for 1st
Class requirement #5.
- August 9 - Troop Meeting, Orientation to canoeing,
planning for canoe trip, personal equipment lists available to Scouts and
their families, transportation arrangements to be completed
- August 16 - Troop Meeting, Boards of Review, Safety
Afloat training, First Aid (training and review prior to canoe trip), final
briefing and meal planning for canoe trip, permission slips due for canoe
trip
- August 20-22 - Grimes Canoe Base - 25-mile canoe trip
(Scouts who have not canoed before will have the option of doing either a
shorter segment or only one of the two days of the trip)
- August 23 - Troop Meeting, Boards of Review
- August 30 - Court of Honor
- September 11 - Popcorn "show and sell" pickup. T521
participates in the Middle Tennessee Council popcorn sales to support the
troop and Scouting in middle Tennessee. T521 does the "show and sell"
option which requires that we sell from tables set up in front of local
stores rather than asking our Scouts to sell door-to-door. Scouts are
welcome to "pre-sell" to their families and friends in addition to doing the
sales with the Troop
- September 12 - Clarksville Riverfest Regatta, cardboard
boat race
- October 1-2 - Grimes Canoe Race (Scouts and adults race
in the Junior 11-14, Senior 14-18, or adult divisions, course is 7 miles,
T521 has won at least one award in every race held to date)
- October 7 - Middle Tennessee Council 100th Anniversary
Jamboree at the Wilson County Fairgrounds
- [Merit Badge University is typically held in mid-October
at Austin Peay State University. No date for the event has been set at
this time.]
- October 29 - "Show and Sell" Popcorn sales ends.
All completed merit badge applications must be submitted to
the Advancement Chair at least one week before a Court of Honor in order to be
awarded and recognized at the Court. All rank requirements must be
completed, approved, and signed off in the Scout's handbook and the Patrol
Advancement Book at least 1 week before a Scout can appear before a Board of
Review.
