On May 18, 2002, Troop 521 went to Land Between the Lakes to hike about 6 miles
of the Fort Henry trail. The weather had been rainy for several days and was quite cold when we arrived for
the hike.
Part of the day was spent identifying trees and plants along the trail.
Normally dry creeks were running with water too deep to cross without taking
off shoes and socks. Adults formed human chains to help the Scouts across and everyone was fine.
Younger Scouts also played a game of "Follow the Senior Patrol Leader."
One of the Scouts had to finish a camp improvement project using lashing and
took a break on the trail to demonstrate his technique.
While we were eating lunch, a
Scout Troop from Georgia passed us while backpacking the trail.
