Troop 521 and their Webelos guests and
friends took a trip to Climb Nashville to test themselves against a
variety of indoor climbing routes. After gathering for a bit just
to chat, we got down to business.
First came basic instruction for everyone
and then special instruction for those who would serve as belayers.
Everyone paid close attention. After all, looking up the
instructions when you're hanging off a rope 30' above the ground is
probably not a good idea.
Then it was time to climb and that was exactly what
we did.
The photo on the left gives you a sense of the height
of the main climbing walls. Making it to the top is quite and
accomplishment and many of the guys did it over and over and over again.
Even the Scoutmaster got into the act. Although
he spent most of his time belaying, he couldn't resist climbing at
least one of the walls.
Finally it was time to go. Most of
us got together afterward for pizza and sodas. I think everyone
slept VERY well that night.
